New Breed Racing salutes on the Gold Coast
February 9, 2016
Michael Costa kicks off satellite stable in style with a winner from his first starter at the Gold Coast.
Red Dynamite ridden by Daniel Griffin started favourite in the seven horse field and proved to strong winning by 4 lengths. Settling mid field, Griffin always had the six year-old gelding traveling on the soft 7 surface and weaved a passage around the turn to show a dashing turn of foot and produce an easy victory.
Michael is always looking for ways to reduce costs for his owners and the new satellite stable will help those horses who are finding the Sydney standard just a little hard.
Michael Costa says: “Sydney is by far the most competitive racing region in the country. With the strength in Sydney we are now seeing metropolitan trainers travel large distances to take horses to compete in country racing. With the added strength of the competition and also the introduction of the new weights scale of 61kg to the top weight, a lot of horses are struggling to compete and carry the huge weights. If you do not have a progressive horse the costs of training in a metropolitan stable in simply not economically viable. Our Gold Coast stable will firstly be more economical for our clients with the training bills being between $1000 – $2000 cheaper a month. The central location of the Gold Coast also allows for minimising float costs as the Gold Coast races every Saturday and is also within an hour of all the major racing venues. In July the prizemoney for country racing in NSW will be increased to $20,000. From the Gold Coast it is also only a short float trip to Murwillumbah, Ballina, Lismore and Grafton. All of these venues also have the BOBS Bonus prizemoney and Sydney Metropolitan trainers can not target them.”
Keep an eye out for the NBR silks running around Queensland over the coming months as the stable starts to role out runners. For any owners wishing to get in contact with Michael please head to http://www.newbreedracing.com.au/contact/
