NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK:
December 2, 2015

Spendthrift Farm is a name that is here to stay! With their main farm in Lexington, Kentucky owner B. Wayne Hughes saw an opportunity to expand his farm and start up in Australia. They purchased Yallambee Stud in the Macedon Ranges township of Romsey, Victoria and hired Garry Cuddy (formerly of Vin Cox Bloodstock) to oversee the Australian operation.

Spendthrift Farm are one of the leading breeding operations in America, standing 27 stallions this coming season including Champion sire Malibu Moon, the sire of the 2013 Kentucky Derby winner, Orb.

Spendthrift will be shuttling horses from America and vice versa, introducing Australians stallions into the American market. This can only boost the profile of Australia and we can’t wait to see how they do over there.

This is their first breeding season and they have four stallions standing, CAN THE MAN, HAMPTON COURT, JIMMY CREED & WARRIOR’S REWARD all of which are at very competitive price.

Spendthrift has introduced their Share the Upside breeding program to Australian breeders, here is how it works:
HOW TO EARN YOUR BREEDING RIGHT
• SECURE your right to breed with a small, one-time deposit.
• EXECUTE your live-foal contract.
• BREED for two years, have two live foals, and pay both stud fees when due.

IT’S THAT SIMPLE! Your free breeding right continues throughout the breeding life of the stallion, and there are NO ongoing expenses associated with your breeding right.

It is not too late to get involved in the Share the Upside program for this season!

The farm was active at the 2015 sales and we can only assume this will continue in 2016. Look out for the orange & purple silks racing around the country as this new farm looks to make their mark on the Australian racing scene.
